HOUSTON 27- 28 October 2009

A review of energy issues and the role of nuclear in critical energy supply achievement 

The third Houston WEG event will be held at the Federal Reserve on October 27/28. It will be chaired by Bill Arnold, the former head of government relations at Shell who is now a professor at Rice University Business School. The event will look at the development of LNG markets, followed by a second day analyzing the status of global nuclear energy development.

Pacific Rim Energy – Competitive Cooperation 

The roundtable will identify the scope of the private sector to support Government policies for meeting the developing energy needs of the Pacific Rim countries.  Lord Howell will be guest of honour at the event hosted Arne Walther, the Norwegian ambassador to Japan. The programme is organised by Prof Tatsuo Masuda, a member of WEG’s international advisory panel.

The 12.011 Club: A Carbon Retreat Weekend 

Reviewing practical ways in which the private sector can respond to policy changes emerging from December’s Copenhagen Climate Conference and the World Economic Forum in January 2010 in Davos. The inaugural meeting will be composed of senior figures from both the public and private sector who are concerned with the carbon agenda. 12.011 is the atomic weight of carbon.

North European Energy Security Forum 

A meeting of senior figures from the public and private sectors to explore the scope of private sector involvement in energy diversification in Central Europe, the Baltic States and Scandinavia.  The gathering is organised by Grupa LOTOS, Poland’s second largest energy company, with the endorsement of the Polish Government.  Lech Wa³êsa will be the guest of honour at the gala dinner.

WEG Annual 2010 Consultation 

The annual WEG meeting will be covering the impact of energy technologies, financial challenges and regional energy reviews including West Africa, Gulf of Mexico and Africa. Outlining the results of the 2009 roundtables, the meeting provides an opportunity to discuss future matters of various results from Almaty, Houston, Gdansk and Tokyo.
