C5 - Financing Renewable Energy conference

http://www.c5-online.com/renewableenergy.htm

Overview

Renewable energy is big business. Total global investment in renewable energy is likely to increase more than sevenfold in the next decade to reach £375bn and there is no sign of the investment cooling despite uncertainties in some global markets.

The renewables industry is growing at 20% to 30% a year and mergers are likely to increase as firms seek greater profitability and new entrants from the tiger economies move into the market. In particular, investment in renewables such as wind, solar and biomass jumped 43% in the last year and maybe about to increase by much more substantial amounts. It is predicted that clean energy could provide almost a quarter of the world’s electricity by 2030.

While the outlook for the sector may be very positive, it is a crucial time for those companies that are serious about being real players in the market. As Ernst & Young say in their latest Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Indices:

"The ability to acquire and commercialise new technologies, enter new markets and diversify across the industry, requires a strong balance sheet, a track record of raising finance for new acquisitions and a dynamic approach - it’s not for the faint-hearted."
(Jonathan Johns, Head of Renewable Energy, Ernst & Young)

Building on the success of the Berlin event in March 2007, C5’s 2nd European Financing Renewable Energy Forum brings together a distinguished faculty of leading investors, developers and other experts experienced in financing renewable energy projects. This expert faculty will give you the knowledge you need to succeed. In particular, they will give you practical guidance on:
• the risks involved in financing wind projects and how investors are responding to them
• the special considerations in the financing of PV projects compared to other renewable projects
structuring the contracts to mitigate project risk and attract financing in a supplier’s market
• developing and financing renewable energy projects in the hottest new markets: what the development obstacles are and how they can be overcome
• what the present and future opportunities for biofuel investors are…and how the risks should be addressed
• successfully sourcing debt finance for renewable energy projects
attracting equity investor interest in your company
creating an on-balance sheet biogas portfolio while maximising your returns
selling your renewable projects or renewable companies in today’s market
waste to energy: what makes an attractive market?
• using carbon credits to fund renewable projects

“Very commercial approach – that is clearly the best way” (Andres Lorrio, Bird & Bird (Berlin 07))

You can also add value to your attendance by taking advantage of C5’s acclaimed Pre-Conference Master Class: The Essential Guide to the Project Finance of Renewable Energy Projects (RE). This practical and interactive master class will focus on the legal issues and other critical aspects involved when negotiating, structuring and documenting a typical RE project.

You may be saying to yourself, there are so many of these events on the market, why should I attend this one? The answer lies in the fact that no other conference is as focused on the intricacies of financing renewable energy projects. This hands-on practical event will also put you side-by-side with the leading bankers, developers and other experts in the market today, and, unlike other Renewable Energy Finance events, there is a genuine opportunity to build close business relationships.

I am sure you will agree that there is no better time and cost-effective way than attending this conference to ensure you are completely up-to-date with the latest developments in financing renewable energy. You should enrol immediately though. Places are limited!
