Opportunities for Graduates to participate in a variety of Projects MEC is active in marketing the services of its clients into Gulf and Arab markets. MEC also produces a wide range of reports and publications relating to the Middle East which cover political and macro-economic studies, detailed sectorial analyses, authoritative forecasts and market surveys. The studies can be either tailor-made and exclusive to a particular client or syndicated to a larger group. MEC publishes annual reviews of the politics and economies of the Gulf states. Running to 50 pages, these papers review recent events and assess future prospects and factors which may influence the stability of this sensitive region. MEC frequently compiles reports at the request of its clients, bringing in experts for each project with relevant knowledge and experience. Starting with an internship there might be a possibility of your joining a team of researchers and experienced analysts whose backgrounds range from academia, to journalism and diplomacy. Alternatively you might be assigned to a task force working on the development of a specific project. One project that we have in mind is related to research on the current situation in all the Gulf countries, including Iraq. Another is concerned with economic cooperation via an organisation called the West Med Economic Forum (WMEF) which is mentioned elsewhere on this website. Being a virtual organisation, a lot of MEC’s research is based on internet websites with a Middle East specialisation. There are other openings from time to time as we set up task forces to carry out specific projects. MEC does not work on the basis of regular paid salaries but offers project and success fees to its interns and consultants. MEC is very dependent on the creative gifts of its entrepreneurial group of consultants to bring in the work and create the income streams. Graduate Interns We usually have vacancies for graduate internships in MEC, provided that the applicant is well supported by studies undertaken in Middle East languages and politics, and/or travels in the Middle East or the Levant. Interns who have completed a recognised MBA course are also appointed. The internship will usually last from 3-5 months and could be followed by appointment as a graduate consultant. Please note that internships are unfounded. Contact us by email and send us your CV. You will get a rapid response. A Senior Analyst and Project Leader This part-time opening would suit an entrepreneurial personality in mid career with real leadership qualities capable of taking over leadership of an existing project with significant potential for future development and expansion. A knowledge of the politico/economic issues which drive business and economic development in regions such as the CSI states, the Gulf and the West Med and Maghreb countries would be an essential background. A career in journalism, academia or diplomacy would be useful as the foundation background to this opening. If this looks like being for you send us an email together with your CV.
