Finance The activities of the Finance Division are designed to match the changing needs of Middle East investors with the providers of high quality investment products. The role of MEC in this context is to provide advice and support to selected investment managers who are interested in developing long term relationships with, primarily, institutions and family offices in the Middle East. Similarly, advice is provided to institutions in the region who are seeking to develop their activities in an evolving financial services market. MEC is not however involved in the direct promotion or sale of any investment products. Method of operation: Continuous research and monitoring of the activities of both Middle East investors and international fund managers. Regular visits to institutions and private clients in the region from our London and Bahrain offices. Analysis of the appetite for the clients’ products in the relevant target market. Pre-marketing of clients’ products through visits to interested parties in the relevant target market. Past projects: Advising a major US equipment lease portfolio manager on the creation and marketing of an Islamic Leasing Fund. Support for a leading European private banking group in the development and implementation of a marketing strategy for the Middle East. Undertaking market research for an established US venture capital group seeking the development of selective partnerships in the Middle East. Advising a leading US manager of hedge fund of funds on the development and implementation of a marketing strategy for the Middle East. Negotiating contracts for the forex forecasting service of New York-based FX Concepts with several Gulf banks. Advising a UK based independent investment management company on the development and implementation of a marketing strategy for the Middle East. Support for Touche Remnant in the placement of an Islamic fund for the Geneva-based Islamic bank Dar Al Mal Al Islami .Advisory work for the King Faisal Foundation, Riyadh, in placing funds for management with Morgan Grenfell. Marketing of Henry Ansbacher’s corporate finance services in the Gulf. Publication of a Senior Bankers’ Guide to the Gulf.Study of Gulf banking for the Geneva-based merchant bank Socimer.
