OBJECTIVE

The Windsor Energy Group (WEG) addresses global energy issues and problems through discussion and analysis involving senior figures from the public and private sectors.

PROGRAMME

WEG provides a framework for an exchange of views on strategic matters of the day.  This is achieved through a bi-monthly programme of activities that includes:

- Dinners hosted by ambassadors and energy companies

- Studies assessing developments in various parts of the world

The group meets annually in Windsor Castle for a two-day consultation and consideration of the discussions of the year. WEG offers occasional briefings and meetings with similar bodies in Europe, North America and the Middle East.

OPENNESS

The Group’s success is based on having a small support group of companies and organisations complemented by occasional expert input on specific occasions. A second strength is that discussions are kept non-attributable to allow full and frank exchanges of views.

AMBASSADORIAL SUPPORT

More than twenty WEG briefings have been hosted by ambassadors from energy producing countries. Sixteen ambassadors attended the ambassadorial briefing and dinner at the annual meeting at Windsor Castle. WEG greatly appreciates the help of ambassadors in hosting  quarterly diplomatic briefings.

FUNDING

WEG relies on the subscription from interested members to underwrite its core programme. Other activities are made possible through sponsorship and support in kind. Annual membership entitles an organisation to take part in all of the core programme activities. Members are encouraged to suggest topics for the current and future programme.

WEG is grateful to the Britisch Government (FCO), the Chinese Government (CNCWPC), the Japanese Government (JETRO), NATO, Air Products, BP, Shell, Britisch Gas, Kuwait Petroleum, Mitsui, Petrofac, PDVSA and Aegis for their sponsorship and support.

ORGANIZATION

WEG provides briefings, seminars, studies and consultancy advice to its subscribers and supporting organisations. Geoffrey Hancock is in charge of WEG’s study programme and Ian Walker (Managing Director of MEC International) in charge of administration.
